Community Outreach and Engagement Library Associate/Librarian - Midland Park Memorial Library

Job Summary:

The Community Outreach and Engagement Library Associate/Librarian plays a key role in promoting the library’s resources, programs, and services through various communication channels, including print, digital, and in-person engagement. This position collaborates with library staff to develop outreach strategies, facilitate library programs, and provide exceptional customer service at the circulation desk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging content and marketing materials in collaboration with the Director and Children’s Librarian.
  • Analyze social media metrics and track growth to enhance community engagement.
  • Partner with local media and organizations to promote library services and events.
  • Plan and coordinate outreach initiatives, including school, early literacy, senior adult, and community engagement efforts.
  • Represent the library at community events and establish relationships with local groups and businesses.
  • Provide digital literacy and technology instruction to patrons.
  • Assist in creating unique and cost-effective library programs.
  • Perform circulation desk duties, including checking materials in and out and offering reader advisory services.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master of Information with a concentration in Library Science program, with at least 6 credits completed.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a public library.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and Canva.

Hours:

This is a part time position (20 hours). Hours include 3 day shifts, one evening and one Saturday per month.

“Good Faith” Salary, Range, or Rate of Pay
