Job Summary

The Community Outreach & Development Specialist isresponsible for planning, developing, and implementing impactfulcommunity engagement initiatives that strengthen educationaloutcomes and lifelong learning across the community settings. Thisrole collaborates closely with community partners, facilitatestraining, and advances the organization's mission through strategicoutreach and specialized content expertise.

Responsibilites

Program Development - 35%

Develops, implements, and manages impactful community outreachinitiatives and relevant resources that promote early language andliteracy with an emphasis on birth to age three.
Plans, executes, and delivers high-impact professional learning forpublic health, health care, childcare, and community organizationsthat support early language and literacy and caregivercapacity.
Advances early literacy programs through training, coordination,and engagement to expand community learning spaces and communityimpact and to reach families with young children.
Works with the program manager to ensure alignment withresearch-based strategies and measurable impact metrics specific toearly learning and family support.
Oversees seasonal and initiative-based community outreach programplanning and ensures alignment with the organizational strategicplan.
Develops social media content related to community outreach andliteracy initiatives' impact, emphasizing successes in supportingfamilies with young children.

Collaboration - 20%

Engages with public health, health care, childcare, and communityorganizations to support literacy initiatives that reach familieswith young children.
Establishes and maintains relationships with community partnersthrough regular reports, meetings, and collaborativecommunication.
Collaborates with public health, health care, childcare, andcommunity organizations to design and establish strategic plansthat address literacy needs for young children.
Partners with libraries to advance Science of Reading practices,fostering community-based literacy learning.

Operational and Administrative Tasks - 25%

Manages email communication, meeting preparation, and agendadevelopment.
Serves on search committees.
Represents the organization through community event attendance andrelevant conferences.
Tracks data for community outreach meetings and projects.
Evaluates outreach effectiveness.
Distributes early literacy learning materials.

Professional Development and Continuous Learning - 15%

Engages in specialized training to deepen expertise in earlychildhood development, family engagement, and evidence-basedpractices supporting children birth to three.
Stays informed on best practices in early literacy and communityoutreach through research articles, conferences, and professionalnetworks.
Applies insights from professional learning to improve programdesign, partnership strategies, and the quality of community-basedinitiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned in support of the organization'smission, programs, and strategic priorities.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development,Education, Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, CommunityDevelopment, Communications, Family Studies, or a relatedfield.

Required Experience

3 - 5 years of progressive experience working in communityorganizations, early childhood education, literacy instruction, orprofessional development for educators, with a proven record ofmeasurable impact.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Literacy, or arelated field.

Preferred Experience

Strong background in community outreach, early languagedevelopment, adult learning strategies, and strategicplanning.

Proposed Salary

This position is a pay grade 9. The available salary range is$52,880.00 to $66,156.00. Starting salary within this range isbased on relevant years of experience.Compensation will bedetermined based on experience and qualifications.
