Job summary

Capital Area Food Bank is seeking a Nutrition Education Intern to support the teaching kitchen and nutrition programs across the DMV region. The role involves delivering on-site nutrition education, food demonstrations, and supporting curriculum development under the Nutrition Education Specialist and Director of Nutrition.

The position is 20 hours per week, in-person, requiring travel to multiple sites within DC/MD/VA, Saturdays availability, and commitment to a six-month period.

Qualifications

• Access to a car to travel throughout the DMV region.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with basic computer software including MS Word.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Must be available to work on Saturdays.
• Commitment to a six-month internship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct food demos and samplings on site, at direct distribution sites and other locations once a week.
• Assist with workshops and field trips in the teaching kitchen.
• Conduct research for nutrition programming and survey administration with data entry.
• Promote and support nutrition education programs and materials.
• Travel throughout the DMV to partner sites and events.
