A community bank in New Jersey is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to join its residential lending team, focusing on building relationships in Sussex, Warren and Morris counties.

You will pre-qualify borrowers, guide them through the process, and work with branch networks to move loans from application to closing. This role offers a base salary with tiered commissions and benefits in a locally supported environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of residential mortgage origination experience in a mortgage banking or banking environment preferred.
• Strong relationship-building and business development skills.
• Knowledge of the New Jersey residential mortgage market.
• Ability to work independently while partnering closely with branch and internal bank teams.
• Comfortable working both self-generated business and bank-generated referrals.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain your own relationships within the community, particularly in Sussex, Warren and Morris Counties.
• Work with mortgage referrals generated through the bank’s branch network.
• Pre-qualify prospective borrowers and guide them through the mortgage process.
• Complete applications and review supporting documentation.
• Set clear expectations around timelines, costs and the overall process.
• Work with internal teams to move loans efficiently from application through closing.
• Build mortgage awareness and business within surrounding communities.
• Partner with branch and other bank personnel to identify cross-sell opportunities.
• Participate in community outreach and informational events as appropriate.
