Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support member retention programs and activities.

We are seeking a personable and relationship-focused Community and Member Outreach Assistant to join our forward-thinking team.In this role, you will be the face of BPN for our Medicaid members, helping them navigate the complexities of applications and eligibility. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building long-term, trust-based relationships with our members.Your Impact:Medicaid Application Assistance: Serve as a trusted resource for Medicaid applicants by assisting individuals with completing and submitting applications through the Health-e-Arizona Plus (HEAplus) system. Guide applicants through eligibility requirements, required documentation, renewals, and benefit-related questions.Member & Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with applicants and community members by providing excellent customer service and education regarding available programs and resources.Outreach & Event Support: Conduct outbound calls to promote and support community outreach efforts, including scheduling appointments, event participation, and follow-up activities. Represent the organization at both virtual and in-person community events, engaging directly with attendees and providing information on available services.Operational Support: Complete administrative and tracking activities to support outreach initiatives, application assistance efforts, and departmental goals.Position Details:Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with some REQUIRED WEEKENDS AND EVENINGS.Location: Hybrid, combination of working from home and mandatory travel for events, reliable transportation (mostly in the greater Phoenix Metro area) and meetings (generally at the Tucson Corporate Office).Ideal Candidate: Personable demeanor, customer service experience, basic Excel skills, and a comfort for fast-paced environments. Experience using Health-e-Arizona Plus (HEAplus) and working knowledge of AHCCCS eligibility policies and procedures are required. BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH HIGHLY PREFERRED. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH EITHER AHCCCS OR MEDICARE AND MEDCAID. Our goal is to ensure that our members have access to care nearby and that primary care providers have a good selection of local providers with which to work and refer our members.POSITION SUMMARYThis position promotes Health Plan benefits and services to current and potential members at community events, sponsorships, charities, health-related events, community partnerships, speaking engagements and outreach programs. This position will participate in all member growth and retention programs and activities as assigned.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Coordinates and supports member retention programs and activities as assigned. Tracks results to assist in the development of measurable outcomes.2. Identifies potential outreach opportunities to inform current and potential members of health plan benefits and services.3. Maintains a calendar of all outreach events. Coordinates marketing materials, giveaways, and activities for all outreach functions. Assists manager in planning HP sponsored outreach activities.4. Health Plan representative with community agencies and serves on various community-based committees. Attends and participates in appropriate health fairs and community events.5. Collaborate with key internal departments and external clients to ensure members receive continued access to care.6. Works effectively with community-based agencies and practitioners to ensure members understand how to receive proper health care. Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners.7. Acts as a liaison with state AHCCCS and local county and state agencies. Adhere to AHCCCS, CMS and AZ DOI Marketing Guidelines.8. Serves as a point of contact for inquiries and requests from community partners and community organizations. Creates and maintains an up-to-date external list of community contacts. Ensures the HP websites have current and accurate information related to Outreach.9. Internal customers include volunteers, physicians and staff, including management and administrative level employees. External customers include community and business organizations, potential patient referral facilities, patients and families.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSSkill level typically achieved through a minimum of two years of experience in community relations, marketing, customer service, event support or health care related field. Must have ability to work evenings and weekends required. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of car insurance and clean driving record.Must posses excellent oral and written communication, as well as listening skills to effectively interact pleasantly and calmly. Must possess basis computer skills, including familiarity with office suite. Must be able to effectively prioritize and make sound decisions following established department policies, procedures and standards. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. Must possess the ability to work cohesively in a team environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSOne year experience with AHCCCS, Commercial Insurance and/or Medicare preferred.
