NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a Social Services liaison at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx to support housing development and public service programs. The role involves coordinating between City agencies, residents and community organizations to enhance program participation and outcomes.

  • Preference given to applicants with at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization.

  • Interviews local residents, landlords, government personnel, business people and youths to solicit support for community development programs and determine community needs.
  • Assists in the preparation and distribution of informational materials relating to programs, objectives and activities.

Work Shifts
Responsibilities

1. One (1) year of full-time experience in a government agency or community organization in providing community services to the public or in assisting members of the community in obtaining services; or 2. Completion of an approved six (6) month training program of combined classroom training and on-the-job experience in community liaison work, plus six (6) months of full-time experience as described in 1 above. Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position.: This class of positions encompasses work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility in the performance of liaison functions between City agencies, local residents, and community organizations, in order to: provide assistance, obtain participation and support for housing development and community development and implement public service programs. Performs tasks in the field or in an office, as assigned. Supervises staff. All personnel perform related work.

Under direct supervision, assists in liaison functions between City agencies, local residents, and community organizations.

Examples of Typical Tasks.: 1. Interviews local residents, landlords, government personnel, business people and youths to solicit support for community development programs, to ascertain needs of communities and to determine courses of action to meet those needs which are acceptable to the communities. 2. Interviews staff and representatives of governmental, educational, and social agencies and unions for the purposes of securing information for and transmitting information from community organizations and residents. 3. Assists in the preparation and distribution of informational materials relating to the programs, objectives, and activities of both communities and educational institutions. 4. Assists in the training of subordinate staff. 5. Makes written and oral reports as required. 6. Keeps records related to programs, activities, objectives, etc.
