Job summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is seeking a kitchen aide to prepare meals according to the meal plan, serve cafeteria-style, and help maintain a clean dining area and kitchen. The role requires 1–3 years of related experience, ability to lift up to 30 lbs, a valid Ohio driver’s license if driving is warranted, and strong communication skills.

Travel within the service area may be required, and personnel must pass fingerprinting for background checks.

Qualifications

• One to three years related professional experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age if driving is warranted.
• Experience in food handling and preparation, kitchen management, and menu planning. Knowledge of recognized methods and skills in provision of good nutrition desired.
• Ability to monitor allocated food budget.
• Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and are subject to a Moving Vehicle Report (MVR) check through the DMV annually if driving is warranted.
• Must provide a copy of driver’s license and have reliable means of transportation.
• Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals based on provided meal plan using fresh ingredients.
• Serve meals cafeteria style with a pleasant and friendly customer service approach.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of kitchen, dining area, and food equipment, and adhere to health standards.
• Under direction ensure activities align with Catholic Charities mission and values; prepare meals for clients.
• May plan menus and submit to dietitian/program director for review and approval.
• May purchase food and dietary supplies.
