Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring for roles that involve supervising offenders and assisting in rehabilitation efforts. You will investigate offender environments, counsel on personal issues, and coordinate with agencies to support public safety.

Applicants should have four or more years of relevant experience in corrections or related fields and a valid driver's license. College credits may substitute for experience; training and advancement are offered as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Four+ years as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant in Missouri DOC.
• Four+ years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation/parole, corrections, law enforcement, or related fields; valid driver's license.
• Earned college credit hours may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Investigates offender home/work/social environments for reports and risk assessment; supports offender management and public safety.
• Contacts offenders at home, work or confinement; counsels on personal/adjustment issues and attends court when needed.
• Assists in vocational/educational planning; coordinates with public/private agencies and law enforcement.
• Prepares statistical reports; may assist in safety testing, investigations, and committee work; supervison increases with experience.
• Possesses a valid vehicle operator's license; participates in safety training and annual re-qualification.
