Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age.
• Texas Peace Officer license or eligible to obtain license.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• DD214 for U.S. military service.
• Visual acuity in both eyes, correctable to 20/20.
• Valid driver license with acceptable driving record.
• Computer literate.
• Must meet all physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Patrols city in radio-equipped vehicle and answers calls for protection of life and property.
• Conducts preliminary investigations of disturbances, burglaries, thefts, and accidents.
• Directs traffic at fires, events, and emergencies; issues citations as needed.
• Interviews victims, complainants and witnesses; gathers and preserves evidence.
• Prepares arrest reports and documents activities and incidents observed.
• Plans and executes crime prevention programs for schools, churches and community groups.
• Maintains contact with citizens regarding potential law enforcement problems.
• Assist in special investigative and crime prevention duties as assigned.
