Qualifications

• United States citizenship (POST Certification requirement)
• 21 years of age by hire date
• High School Diploma or GED
• A valid driver's license
• Ability to pass all testing requirements (written exam and physical agility)
• Good written and oral communication skills
• POST certification within one year of employment
• Background, medical, polygraph and psych examinations required

Responsibilities

• Patrol and traffic enforcement; apprehend, cite and arrest violators as appropriate
• Investigate criminal activity; gather evidence, interview victims, witnesses and suspects
• Prepare detailed reports of daily activities and present evidence in court
• Operate police vehicle and department equipment safely and effectively
• Engage in public relations and speak at public meetings and school events
• Assist in investigations major cases and drug/violence related offenses
• Perform specialized duties and community safety programs
