Job Description:

Madison College’s Office of Student Engagement and Community Impact is seeking a Community Impact Coordinator to help expand the College’s visibility, presence, and outreach within its communities of focus. This position will represent Madison College in a variety of professional settings engaging a broad range of stakeholders: including students, community members, businesses, corporations, workforce and government agencies, education institutions including K-12, colleges and universities, community organizations, Chambers of Commerce, and state agencies.

The Community Impact Coordinator will primarily be responsible for cultivating and sustaining meaningful relationships to support community partnerships and enhance student enrollment, engagement, and success. In alignment with Madison College’s mission, vision, strategic priorities, and departmental goals, this role will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive community engagement strategy focused on intentional outreach, access to education, student retention, completion of credentials with the labor market, and upward mobility. This position provides leadership, recommendations, and support for community engagement initiatives both within the College and across the broader community.

The Community Impact Coordinator reports to the Student Engagement and Community Impact Manager.

This is a salaried, hybrid position that requires regular travel to Madison College campuses and communities within the district, along with in-person attendance at scheduled meetings and events. The role also involves occasional evening and weekend work, in-state travel, and limited out-of-state travel. The position includes the option to work remotely up to two days per week, subject to change based on Madison College policies.

Accountabilities:

  • Community Relations: Fosters respectful and mutually productive relationship(s) between the Madison College, and key stakeholders. Works to develop, recognize, promote, and build reciprocal partnerships that support educational access, equity, and student success. Serves as the liaison and resource broker responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with community organizations, K-12 schools, higher education institutions, Chambers of Commerce, workforce & government agencies, and residents to initiate and support opportunities for collaboration in alignment with the complementary roles of other divisions and departments. Triages community requests to respond or refer to the appropriate College leaders and stakeholder(s).
  • Coordinates and organizes efforts that foster meaningful relationships and advance shared goals with diverse communities and stakeholders (e.g., arrange travel or visits, conduct visits to communities, facilitate meetings or workshops, develop curriculum or resource materials, etc.). Serves as a project manager for multi-faceted community engagement projects, initiatives, and events that advance the college’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Raise awareness and develop an understanding of diverse communities, their experiences, and priorities among college administration, faculty, and staff to create, implement, and assess the outcomes for a strategic, individualized community engagement action plan annually to strengthen the visibility and presence of Madison College among diverse partners and stakeholders. Applies their authentic knowledge of the community, theories, principles, and best practices for community engagement and community feedback to inform action plans.
  • This position is responsible for knowing and staying current on state and federal legislation that impacts Madison College’s responsibilities to its community partners, students, and institutional partnerships.; and assists in system-wide, strategic efforts to raise awareness and knowledge of tribal governance, legislation, consultation practices, and community-based recruitment that should take place among administration, faculty, and staf f. Research, review, interpret, analyze, and synthesize complex data to report actionable findings from various multi-faced information, records, data, forms, meetings, schedules, calendars, surveys to internal and external (community-based) stakeholders.
  • Leads and manage community engagement projects, initiatives and events, from planning to execution. Oversees timelines, budgets, logistics, and deliverables including scheduling, ordering supplies, catering, and room reservations, duplication and copying; manages event invitations and marketing; coordinates with purchasing for vendor and honorarium payment; and collaborates with contracts department to secure contracted services. Serves as the primary point of coordination across departments and external partners to ensure successful, goal-aligned outcomes.
  • Supports adult recruitment by creating events to provide relevant information about the College to community organizations, K-20 educational institutions, and relevant state agencies. Develops and implements adult marketing strategies with a focus on underserved and underrepresented populations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated communication and human relations skills with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities. Deep understanding of the lived experience of native and Indigenous communities in Wisconsin.
  • Applies community engagement theories, principles, and best practices to guide work. Strong commitment to Madison College’s mission and advancing the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion and practices. Ability to forge relationships and establish cooperative working relationships with various communities, diverse staff, faculty, administrators, and the public at all levels.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions and advocate for the college and its academic and service programs. Thorough understanding of the role of community/technical college and its relationship; Knowledge of the Madison College programs, services, and operations is required.
  • Strong start-to-finish project management and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects while staying organized and responsive. Proven ability to lead with direct authority and through influence, including collaborating with the Office team and peer leadership groups and deploying resources to support strategy, planning, and initiative/program deployment capabilities. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, team collaboration, and the ability to work productively with minimal direction. A goal-oriented, self-starter and must possess the ability to work under deadlines. Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills. Capable of developing and producing visual media assets.
  • Readily accepts and uses constructive feedback for professional development. Seeks opportunities for professional development and growth.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree required. An Associate’s Degree may be considered with equivalent additional work experience.
  • Experience:
    2-4+ years ofrelevant, professional, and progressive work experience.
