Job description

Job Title: Bilingual Community Health Worker/Promotore

The County of Riverside is seeking a Bilingual Community Health Worker/Promotore to join our team. We are recruiting for multiple Community Health Worker/Promotore I and II positions to support our Family Resources across Riverside County. Incumbents will drive throughout the region to attend various events, representing and offering programs. The role involves connecting with community members to facilitate access to health services and resources, including assistance with program applications. Responsibilities include outreach, community needs assessment, and providing tailored support, especially to underserved populations. Evening and weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of health programs.
  • Preferred experience in community outreach or high-volume case management.
  • Ability to document interactions and follow-up actions effectively.
  • Commitment to improving community health outcomes.
Additional Requirements

Community Health Worker/Promotore II: Must possess a valid Community Health Worker Certification at the time of offer. Strongly encouraged for qualified candidates.

Bilingual (Spanish) required: Must read, write, and speak Spanish fluently. All applicants will be required to take an unproctored Spanish assessment exam.

First 5 Riverside, funded by tobacco taxes and other sources, invests in programs that support the health and development of children aged prenatal to 5, their families, and communities.

  10. Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.
Position Details
Community Health Worker/Promotore I
  • Hourly: $18.88 - $25.15
  • Annual: $39,261 - $52,315
  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D., with required certification within 12 months.
  • Experience: Lived experience working with diverse populations, typically one year.
Community Health Worker/Promotore II
  • Hourly: $19.91 - $26.53
  • Annual: $41,420 - $55,192
  • Education: Same as above.
  • Experience: One year as CHW/Promotore I or equivalent, or two years of relevant lived experience.

Must possess a valid Community Health Worker Certification and a valid California Driver’s License.

Testing and Application Process
