Job summary

Texas A&M University Health Science Center seeks a Community Health Worker II in McAllen, TX. The role supports recruitment, needs assessment, and linkage to social resources while co-leading program evaluation and data collection.

The CHW II will also train CHW students and coordinate flow of participants with support staff. The position is grant funded with travel across the Lower Rio Grande Valley and occasional outside trips.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years related experience in public relations, outreach, training or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Participates in patient recruitment, program planning, implementation, and evaluation including managing appointments and data collection.
• Participates in research related to health promotion and disease prevention.
• Serves as an instructor to CHW students and trainees in formal, structured programs.
• Manages program data to meet program and participant needs, including coordination of records and appointment scheduling.
• Communicates with participants and liaises between program staff, community members, and stakeholders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
