Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Program, Colorectal Cancer Program and Maryland Cancer Fund Program. This position will ensure access to care, utilization of needed services to targeted populations and compliance with local, federal and state regulations, policies, procedures and guidance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education : A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience : Two years of experience as a Community Health Nurse plus one year of additional experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse.
Notes
  • Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
  • Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
  • Candidates may substitute three years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute a Master’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university for the two years of Community Health Nurse required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired Or Preferred Qualifications
  • 1. Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • 2. Experience in a supervisory role related to grant administration.
  • 3. Experience managing Maryland Department of Health (MDH) grants, including oversight of grant applications, budgets and expenditures.
  • 4. Experience managing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grants, including oversight of grant applications, budgets and expenditures.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
Special Requirements
