Position Summary:

Responsible for comprehensive community health research initiatives and programs. Manages a large volume of regions in the field to conduct interviews with research subjects, gather data, and document information for various health studies. Provides training and mentorship to junior-level staff.

Manage the day-to-day operations of a substance use disorder research study, including recruiting participants, collecting and organizing data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and working with the study team.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Essential Functions

  • Interviews study participants at their homes, businesses, or designated study areas across various regions in Texas to ensure complete and accurate responses and to promote ongoing participation in the study.
  • Contacts study participants to schedule interviews in the research study.
  • Tracks participants, conduct interviews and follow up as needed to gather additional information for coding purposes.
  • Conducts intervention with research subjects and refers them to the appropriate physician or healthcare practitioner according to the study policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Provides training and mentorship junior level Community Health Liaisons.
  • Maintains quality control of data collection process collected by junior level Liaison.
  • Handles administrative details, including time and effort reports and mileage reports.
  • Researches newspaper files, hospital records, funeral homes, and other available resources to gather names, addresses, phone numbers, and additional information about study participants.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of tests and physicals according to the study's policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Enters and updates research project data for inclusion in the database.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Minimum Education:

Associate's Degree in Public Health or a related field required May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

Minimum Experience:

1 year in community health, public health research, or a related field required.

Preferred Skills:

Ability to work independently

Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus

Highly organized

Comfortable with presentation and public speaking engagements

Experience working with people with substance use disorder

Lived experience with substance use disorder

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
