Job summary

Highlands County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Misdemeanor Probation supervisor to oversee and document probation progress, explain terms, and connect clients with community resources. You will interview clients, track compliance, and prepare court paperwork to support judicial decisions.

The role requires two years of college in related fields and two years of probation/court experience, with Florida driver license.

Qualifications

Two years college from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field.
Two years progressively responsible experience in a court system or probation, parole, social casework or counseling or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

Supervise, track, monitor, and evaluate progress of assigned probation clients.
Explain probation conditions and obtain client signatures; provide clear instructions for actions before next appointment.
Interview clients to gather information, assess needs, and refer to community services.
Prepare and file court-ordered paperwork; maintain accurate case notes and ensure timely submission to appropriate offices.
Notify court of probation violations and prepare warrants when necessary; provide recommendations based on data collected.
Document client files of arrests and releases from incarceration; coordinate hearings and related paperwork.
Maintain accurate accounting records for monies received and restitution.
