Job summary

North East Combined Authority is seeking two Community Engagement Officers to recruit and support volunteers, deliver community activities, and provide personalised guidance to clients rebuilding their lives in the region. The role involves coordinating projects, delivering training, and building strong relationships with clients and partners.

You'll work in a small team, taking responsibility for your projects while collaborating across priorities to maximise impact for communities we serve.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience coordinating projects or community-based work
• Proven experience recruiting, training and supporting volunteers
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Good written, administrative and digital skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a small team
• Comfort working in a small, evolving organisation

Responsibilities

• Coordinate an agreed portfolio of WERS' projects, including volunteering, employability courses, sport and cultural activities in community settings
• Support community participation through recruitment, induction and coordination of volunteers
• Deliver myth-busting and awareness training to clients and external audiences and develop training materials
• Provide one-to-one support to clients with information, signposting and referrals
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, volunteers and partners to create participation and progression opportunities
• Maintain accurate records, gather feedback and identify themes to improve services
• Contribute content for communications and other organisational priorities as needs evolve
