Job summary

CWS Rochester is seeking a Community Engagement Assistant in Dallas to help maintain relationships with faith-based groups, colleges, and community organizations, and to grow volunteer engagement. You will develop educational materials, present on refugee and asylum-seeker services, and coordinate outreach and fundraising activities.

The role involves recruiting volunteers, onboarding new helpers, and supporting special events while collaborating with program staff to meet community needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
• 3 years of previous work experience in non-profit, social justice, community development, and volunteer management work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain relationships with local partners, including faith-based organizations as well as institutions of higher education and community-based organizations.
• Create/update educational materials that aid community partners raising awareness about refugee, immigrant, and asylum-seeker issues
• Conduct presentations and speaking engagements targeting faith-based organizations, higher education institutions, community-based organizations, and client communities to train them on CWS services and clients’ needs
• Encourage local community organization and business engagement with the CWS office through coordination of group volunteering activities, corporate sponsorship, and targeted fundraising opportunities
• Educate refugee and immigrant service providers through training and presentations
• Maintain and grow a volunteer base through outreach to individuals, faith-based organizations, community-based organizations and groups, colleges/universities, and corporations
• Assist with onboarding of new volunteers by providing outreach, helping with recruitment paperwork, providing initial orientation, and maintaining records in the volunteer tracking database
• Help match volunteers to programs and clients based on programmatic needs and volunteer interest; consult with program staff, clients, and volunteers to ensure completion of tasks per CWS standards
• Consult with individual volunteers and community-based groups, refugee clients, and case managers, guiding stakeholders for positive interactions
• Assist with planning and attend special events, recruit volunteers for support during these events
• Identify opportunities for increasing donor giving, such as monthly donor programs
• Contribute to grant proposals related to local office programming
• Other duties as assigned
