City of Tampa is seeking an experienced lead Community Engagement professional. You will plan, coordinate, and facilitate public engagement activities designed to strengthen relationships with residents, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and stakeholders.

Salary $37.15 - $55.71/hour; $6,439.33 - $9,656.40/month; $77,272.00 - $115,876.80/year

An employee in this class serves as a lead communityengagement professional responsible for planning, coordinating, andfacilitating public engagement activities designed to strengthen relationshipsbetween the City and residents, businesses, neighborhood organizations, andcommunity stakeholders. Employees independently manage neighborhood engagementactivities, coordinate stakeholder outreach efforts, support employeeengagement initiatives, and assist with departmental budget administration andoperational activities. Work requires substantial initiative, independentjudgment, diplomacy, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverseaudiences. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed throughresults achieved, community response, and program outcomes.
Working knowledge of: business English, spelling, grammar,and arithmetic; municipal organization; City of Tampa geographical area anddemographics.
Ability to: establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with city officials, department representatives, members ofcommunity groups, and the general public; write and speak clearly and conciselyin a variety of communication settings; deal with public relations problemseffectively, courteously, and tactfully; be flexible in dealing with diverseaudiences; evaluate information, draw sound conclusions, and prepare and submitoral and written reports; maintain files and databases.
Skill in: planning, marketing and coordinating neighborhoodmeetings; computers, MS Office and various digital technologies; preparingclear and concise written reports; maintaining paper and electronic complexrecords; composing, editing, and correcting draft correspondence and reports;maintain files and records; preparing reports.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with abachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing,public or business administration or a related field and 2 years of experiencein community outreach, community engagement, or similar experience, to includesome administrative support experience.

An equivalent combination of education (not less thanpossession of a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that wouldreasonably be expected to provide the job related competencies noted above.
Possession of a valid driver’s license required.
Evaluation ofeducation and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. During periods when the Mayor issues an emergency declaration for the City of Tampa, all employees may be required to work in preparation, response or recovery activities related to the stated emergency.
