Primary Purpose:

Build and strengthen partnerships between families, schools, and the community by coordinating Parent and Family Engagement opportunities that support student achievement and build the capacity of parents to actively participate in their child's education. Support the campus in implementing Title I Parent and Family Engagement requirements; coordinate required meetings and activities; maintain accurate compliance documentation; promote meaningful two-way communication; coordinate the campus volunteer program; and connect families with educational and community resources.

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
College Hours (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Must speak, read, and write English and Spanish fluently.

Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and vehicle insurance.

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to establish positive working relationships with parents, students, campus staff, administrators, and community members.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Proficiency in office equipment, computer applications, and district technology.

Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse families and community members.

Ability to organize and facilitate parent meetings, trainings, and engagement activities.

Knowledge of Title I Parent and Family Engagement requirements preferred.

Ability to maintain accurate documentation and meet established deadlines.

Experience:

Background or experience in parent engagement, parent training, community outreach, education, or related services preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • To become knowledgeable about state, local and federal regulations (Section 1118) concerning Parental Involvement and meet their requirement.
  • Strengthen relationships between school and community.
  • Provide varied opportunities for parent to actively participate in their children’s education.
  • To be accountable.
  • To recruit, train and sustain the volunteer program.
  • To become knowledgeable and implement the Seven Components of the district’s Parental Involvement Program.
  • To assist schools to be in compliance.
  • To increase the number of parents in advocacy positions.
  • Develops campus short-term and long-term goals for Campus Policy and for implementation using Title I Survey Results.
  • Works to attain success in goals set for campus.
  • Evaluates (with principal) goals’ success or modifies as necessary.
  • Follows district policy, directives and campus rules.
  • Acts as a model representative of our district and campus at all times.
  • Completes and turns in monthly reports, schedules and parenting sessions invitations, sign-in sheets, agendas, etc., when due.
  • Conducts neighborhood meetings at the principal’s request.
  • Provides transportation for students and their parents, if needed, for student evaluation or medical purposes to school, doctor, dentist, etc., when no other transportation is readily available.
  • Prepares and maintains an inventory of services offered by the community health and welfare agencies and establish close relationship with those agencies.
  • To make proper referrals if there are concerns that could affect the well‑being of eligible parents and children.
  • Attends all Parental Involvement meetings and trainings on time.
  • Reschedules missed sessions and brings note signed by the principal regarding reason for rescheduling.
  • Assists with conferences and special events.
  • Works collaboratively in group situations.
  • Always makes the principal/school “look good.”
  • Tries to make a difference in people’s lives.
  • Performs any additional duties or tasks as directed by the campus principal/his designee or the coordinator.
