Job description

Description

About the Job:

Homewise's Community Engagement Manager is a relationship builder, facilitator, and community organizer. Reporting to the Senior Director of Policy & Advocacy, you'll build trusted relationships with residents, neighborhood organizations, and community partners; lead public meetings, educational programs, and community events; and create opportunities for people to engage in local housing issues and build the skills to advocate for stronger, more livable communities.

You'll support community engagement efforts for Homewise's residential and commercial developments, the Livability Speaker Series and Fellowship programs, and engage residents in the local and state policy landscape shaping housing in New Mexico. Working closely with the Policy & Advocacy, Marketing, and Real Estate Development teams, you'll cultivate meaningful relationships with residents and community partners, facilitate thoughtful conversations about housing and development, and help build stronger, more connected communities.

About You

You may be a great fit if:

  • You build trust easily across different kinds of people and groups.
  • You're comfortable running a room, whether it's ten neighbors or two hundred.
  • You can juggle several projects —planning a public meeting, fellowship cohort, canvassing/phone banking campaign — at once.
  • You think in relationships, not transactions.
  • You're organized enough to keep events, speakers, and logistics on track without dropping a detail.
  • You follow policy conversations the way others follow the news.
  • You communicate clearly, in writing and in person, to audiences with very different levels of context.
  • You're flexible with your schedule — evenings and weekends come with the territory.
  • You take initiative rather than waiting to be told what's next.
What you'll be doing:
  • Designing and executing inclusive public input strategies for Homewise's residential and commercial developments, including canvassing, stakeholder meetings, presentations, and public meetings.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local groups, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Coordinating with speakers and panelists for the Livability Speaker Series.
  • Promoting events to ensure strong turnout, working with the marketing team on promotional materials.
  • Managing fellowship recruitment, interviews, curriculum development, and ongoing engagement with fellows after the program ends.
  • Tracking proposed and adopted local and state policies related to affordable housing and development.
  • Supporting policy research and analysis for Homewise's development and advocacy efforts.
  • Driving community turnout for Homewise initiatives and aligned policy campaigns.
