Job summary

The City of Flagstaff is seeking qualified candidates to join its law enforcement team. You will patrol the city, respond to emergencies, investigate crimes, and enforce the law with integrity and professionalism, while engaging with residents and supporting community safety initiatives.

Upon academy completion, officers are sworn in and assigned to a sworn police officer role. The department emphasizes growth, teamwork, and serving a dynamic, mountain-town community in Flagstaff, AZ.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Minimum age of 21 at appointment.
  • AZPOST certified academy or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Successful background, medical, psychological, and polygraph evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas by vehicle, bike, or on foot to deter crime and enforce laws.
  • Respond to emergencies, incidents, and reports of crimes or accidents.
  • Investigate criminal activity and property damage; collect evidence.
  • Make arrests, detain suspects, and transport prisoners as needed.
  • Appear in court to present evidence and provide testimony.
