Job summary

The East Alabama Community Development Specialist (VISTA) role with AmeriCorps focuses on financial empowerment and poverty reduction, designing, implementing, and overseeing programs that improve economic opportunities, access to resources, and well‑being for the community in Russell County, AL, Macon County, AL, and surrounding areas.

The VISTA will work with community members, local organizations, and stakeholders to develop strategies that address root causes of poverty and promote

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key player in the planning, development, generation, and implementation of a critical project targeting a sensitive population.
• Introduce programs and services to institutions and leaders that avoid difficult topics affecting historically disadvantaged and socioeconomically deprived communities.
• Examine and document trends and patterns of current research and data.
• Create reports and statistical notes for use in marketing and social media platforms.
• Identify and implement benchmarks for strategies aligned with the organization’s short‑term goals.
• Establish strong relationships by understanding constituent needs, the consumer experience, and organizational capabilities.
• Evaluate root cause indicators and develop methods to address underlying concerns.
• Collaborate with other departments (Marketing, Software Development, etc.) to manage reputation, identify key players, and coordinate actions.
