The Generation With Promise (GWP) program collaborates with students, families, teachers, schools, community, and faith-based organizations to foster healthy change from within the community. This Community Educator role is based in Macomb County, with a home base at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. The position involves community travel to deliver wellness education focused on nutrition and physical activity to priority populations within Macomb County. The ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging with community members and delivering education effectively.
The Community Educator supports activities related to the school and community-based health education program, GWP, under the guidance of the Program Manager and Senior Project Coordinator. Responsibilities include providing nutrition education and promoting physical activity targeting youth and families eligible for SNAP-Ed in underserved settings. The role involves facilitating group sessions, participating in team meetings, and building relationships with schools, organizations, and community members through presentations and outreach. The Educator may also implement the PE-Nut program, support Student Action Teams, and assist with projects aimed at reducing health disparities.
