Muskegon Community College seeks a Certified Nurse Aide Instructor to plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate classroom, lab, and clinical instruction for CNA candidates in line with Michigan LARA regulations. The role enables students to complete the state CNA training and achieve certification.

Responsibilities include delivering instruction, supervising clinical and lab sessions, preparing lesson plans, conducting evaluations, and maintaining compliance with state standards, while mentoring

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Active, unrestricted RN license in Michigan.
  • Two years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one year in long‑term care in Michigan.
  • Completion of an accredited Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training program, adult learning course, or documented experience supervising nursing assistants.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
  • Michigan Train-the-Trainer certification.
  • Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring preferred.
  • Active participation in hands‑on skills demonstrations and clinical supervision.

  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic and clinical performance.
  • Maintain professional development through continuing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Facilitates learning that enables students to complete the Michigan CNA training program and achieve certification.

Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for up to 8 hours.
  • Bend, lift, push, pull and assist with patient-mobility simulations.
  • Demonstrate clinical procedures and operate training equipment with adequate manual dexterity.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Occasional lifting of individuals or training mannequins up to 50 pounds with proper body‑mechanics techniques.
  • Work occurs in classroom and skills‑lab settings with periodic clinical rotations in long‑term care or affiliated health facilities.
  • Potential exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases, and standard healthcare equipment.
Other Requirements
  • Must be willing to receive a TB screening for long‑term‑care candidates.
  • Scheduled to begin February 23 2026 for the next course (non-credit program).
