Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• U.S. Citizen or authorized resident
• Must pass background check including psychological and medical examination, polygraph and pre-employment drug screening
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Completed a state certified law enforcement academy
• Lateral officers must meet BLEEA requirements
• Final offer of employment or current full-time commissioned officer status within last 24 months

Responsibilities

• Respond to complaints and calls for service in a calm, efficient and professional manner
• Respond to vehicle accidents and medical emergencies; administer first aid as needed
• Intervene in dangerous or hostile situations
• Patrol city streets and public areas; respond to calls safely
• Enforce traffic laws and regulations
• Issue warnings and citations
• Prepare and serve warrants; conduct searches
• Arrest and process criminals
• Transport prisoners to Clark County Jail
• Investigate burglaries, thefts, and crime scenes; gather evidence
• Interview witnesses
• Assist neighboring jurisdictions when requested
• Coordinate with federal/state agencies
• Identify and mitigate safety hazards
• Provide security at city events
• Prepare and submit routine and special reports
• Testify in court
• Pursue ongoing training and certifications
• Other duties as assigned
