Job summary

City of Hopkins Police Department is seeking a dedicated police officer. The role requires meeting MN POST qualifications for licensure or obtaining it after hire; lateral officers are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate in Law Enforcement or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Peace Officers Standards and Training License or able to obtain by January 1st, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests for assistance from the public, including emergency and high-risk calls for service; may mediate conflicts and enforce laws.
• Investigate accidents and criminal incidents; patrol sites; protect crime scenes; interview witnesses and suspects; prepare reports and testify in court.
• Provide traffic control to prevent accidents; issue warnings and citations; enforce speed laws using radar.
• Prepare and maintain incident reports and communicate activity in databases and systems.
• Coordinate with other departments and agencies; assist in training and supervising staff.
