Job summary

City of Lake Elsinore is seeking a Community Development Technician to support permit processing, plan review, and fee calculations within the Community Development Department.

The role involves working with property owners, contractors, developers, and the public; preparing staff reports; assisting with maps and fees; and ensuring compliance with zoning and development standards across planning and building processes.

Qualifications

• Two years of progressively responsible office support in Community Development and permits processing.
• High school diploma or equivalent with college coursework in planning, engineering, land use, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Respond to public inquiries about planning, engineering, and permitting processes.
• Review and process planning, building, and engineering plans for completeness and conformance to permit requirements.
• Calculate and collect planning, engineering, and building fees; coordinate fee collection with the cashier.
• Explain zoning and development requirements to the public and developers.
• Prepare staff reports and conditions of approval; present projects to Planning Commission.
