The CRA Community Loan review Specialist is an important role within the CRA Governance Team. This role will act as a Subject Matter Expert for Community Development (CD) Activities with a focus on Community Development lending and will partner with internal lines of business to identify and qualify CD loans for the bank’s CRA exam.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

  • 65%: Capture, qualification and documentation of community development loans and loans for other internal initiatives as needed:
    • Work with internal lines of business to identify, qualify and document community development loans.
    • Review monthly reports and decision loans accordingly
    • Gather documentation that supports the loan qualification in a consistent and thorough format
    • Track loans within internal data repository ensuring data accuracy
    • Streamline internal processes and technology keeping in mind current CRA rule

20%: Provide reporting stream to lines of businesses.

  • Develop community development lending reporting, including development of annual goals by Assessment Areas
  • Responsible for the development and fulfillment of ad hoc reporting as needed
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of community development loan procedures

15%: Direct Examination Support

  • Coordinate and develop examination documentation; assist the manager in responding to examiner inquiries; work with lines of business to produce data documentation; and work with the CRA Governance team to coordinate exam specific information as it relates to CRA.
  • Develop the Community Development Lending Performance Contexts for each identified assessment area in partnership with the CRA Strategy and Initiatives Manager

Additional duties may include:

  • Act as a backup and quality reviewer for CD Service Activities and CD Investments
  • Compliance monitoring
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.
  • Collaboration & team skills - In-depth.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth.
  • Influence skills - In-depth.
  • Data driven decision making - In-depth.
  • Strong understanding the Community Reinvestment Act with a focus on Community Development Activities and qualification
  • Thorough knowledge of risk/compliance/audit practices
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Knowledgeable in PowerBI and other reporting technologies preferred

Salary:

$51,800.00 - $95,900.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
