Job summary

The Kickapoo Nation Health Center seeks a dedicated Dental Hygienist to deliver preventive dental care, educate patients, and support clinical operations. You will work under the Dentist, performing cleanings, assessments, radiographs, and sealants while contributing to community health initiatives.

You’ll need an accredited hygiene program completion, Kansas license, CPR/BLS, and radiology certification where required, with preference for tribal/health setting experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
• Current Kansas Dental Hygienist license.
• Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain.
• Dental radiology certification, if required by state law or clinic policy.
• Previous experience in tribal or community health settings preferred.
• Must pass background checks and meet all employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, polishing, fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive hygiene services.
• Conduct oral health assessments, periodontal charting, medical history reviews, and screenings.
• Take and process dental radiographs as permitted by state law and clinic policy.
• Identify signs of oral disease and report findings to the Dentist.
• Assist with treatment planning and follow-up care as directed by the Dentist.
• Provide chairside support and clinical assistance when needed.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene, brushing, flossing, nutrition, and prevention.
• Participate in community oral health education and outreach events as assigned.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic policies.
• Follow infection control, sterilization, OSHA, CDC standards and ensure clean equipment.
