Job summary

The Seattle Police Department is seeking a dynamic Crime Prevention Coordinator to join the Seattle Police Department. The primary objective for this position is to work with the community and personnel to reduce and prevent crime.

This position may be assigned to any one of five precincts and is subject to change. The Crime Prevention Coordinator will provide crime prevention expertise, training and support to community members to increase their capacity to take action and reduce opportunities

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least one year of public relations or social services experience.
• Two or more years in public relations or social services preferred.
• Experience analyzing crime patterns and presenting reports to community leaders and officials.

Responsibilities

• Develops and supports the implementation of crime prevention strategies informed by the department’s data analytics.
• Analyzes SPD data and community input to create crime area profiles, trends, and reports for officials and community leaders.
• Collaborates with communities, businesses and individuals to identify crime problems and implement prevention tactics.
• Plans and conducts community meetings to disseminate information and recruit participation in prevention activities.
• Responds to inquiries via phone, in person, email or social media with information on crime trends and prevention programs.
• Maintains CPTED training/certification and conducts CPTED surveys for various property types.
• Works with other City departments to provide CPTED feedback on plans and projects.
