Tulsa Health Department is seeking a part-time Community Health Advocate to support the Healthy Start program in North Tulsa. The role focuses on building a facilitated group to identify issues and address social determinants of health impacting mothers and children.
Under supervision, you will help create action plans, participate in governance teams, and coordinate with community partners while maintaining records and completing trainings. Requires HS diploma or GED and North Tulsa ties.

Under the direction of the Tulsa Healthy Start Community Consortium Coordinator, this part‑time opportunity of 20 hours per month, will work with the Consortium Coordinator and other Healthy Start staff members. The goal of this position is to create and maintain a group of community members that will work together to identify issues and concerns that may lead to poor health outcomes.
The following functions represent the majority of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all‑inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
High School Diploma or GED.
Is currently or has been a Healthy Start Participant and has personal experience in the North Tulsa community (for example, currently or formally lived, attended school, or currently has family living in North Tulsa), required.
Ability to assess and maintain cultural competency in all aspects of one’s work, treating all persons with courtesy and respect. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Consortium members and other external partners. Organizational ability. Willingness to put in limited evening or week‑end work. Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality. Must have reliable transportation. Willingness to learn new skills.
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
Internal contact with the associate director, manager, supervisors, and employees, following the chain of command. External contact with other private and public organizations.
Ability to extend arm(s) up and out. Ability to hold objects by using fingers and hands, and ability to use fingers for operational needs such as typing. Must be able to lift objects up to 30 lbs. Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands and/or fingers. Ability to bend spine at waist, bend legs at the knees, and move on hands, knees, and feet.

Conditions include those found working in an office environment. Additionally, various settings to include housing communities to conduct interviews, attend offsite community meetings in public areas. At times, exposure to a noisy, crowded work environment, community neighborhoods and occasional interaction with clients.
Must maintain THD confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations. Must possess the ability and willingness to perform work‑related travel. Must pass a background check.
