Job summary

The City of Sequim is seeking a creative, technology-minded Communications and Engagement Manager to tell the City’s story, strengthen public trust, and connect residents, businesses, visitors and partners with clear, timely information.

Under the City Manager, this role leads communications, public engagement, media relations, and tourism marketing, using analytics and emerging tools to measure outcomes and improve service delivery.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or closely related field with at least five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public engagement, tourism destination marketing, digital media, content development, or related area.
• Experience developing communications and outreach materials across print, digital, social, video or other media platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the City’s communications across print, digital, and multimedia platforms, ensuring alignment with policies and standards.
• Develop and manage a Citywide communications strategy, editorial calendar, and campaign workflow.
• Lead tourism and destination marketing initiatives, coordinating with regional agencies to market the area.
• Advise on high-profile media issues and develop strategic communications approaches for public policy matters.
• Manage stakeholder outreach and build relationships with residents, businesses, media and partners.
• Oversee Lodging Tax activities and provide staff support to LTAC, ensuring compliance.
