Job summary

The City of Hampton seeks a Custodian to maintain the West Hampton Community Center, keeping buildings clean and orderly. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with responsibilities across general cleaning tasks and ensuring security after closing.

Primary duties include floor care, bathroom cleaning, surface dusting, and reporting supply needs. Shift work including nights, weekends, and some holidays will be required.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience in cleaning and maintaining commercial buildings preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow oral directions; operate general cleaning machines (vacuums, buffers, polishers); perform physically demanding work.
• Safety sensitive position; subject to alcohol and controlled substances testing per City policy; background check required; shift work includes nights, weekends and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum carpeted floors and sweep/mop non-carpeted surfaces; operate buffing machine.
• Clean bathrooms, restrooms, mirrors, and fixtures; replenish supplies as needed.
• Dust surfaces, wipe fixtures, clean entrance areas and glass; remove fingerprints; clean water fountains and lounges.
