The Town of Wendell seeks a Community Center Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and supervise athletic and leisure activities, while overseeing Community Center operations.
This role focuses on youth and teens, requires safety policy adherence, event planning, staff liaison, customer service, scheduling, and equipment upkeep.
Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration or related field, plus experience in athletic programming, is expected.

An employee in this class is devoted to providing recreation activities and facilities management. The Community Center Coordinator provides professional, journey-level recreation programming and facility management. This employee works as an assistant to staff overseeing the ongoing operations of recreation programs as related to Center usage. Work in this class requires extensive contact with the public through program offerings. Programs are highly focused around youth and teens and require specific experience and knowledge of that population. Work may include ensuring safety/risk management policies are followed, record-keeping, event planning, staff liaison, and customer service. Work involves considerable planning and scheduling of activities and contact with participants and temporary staff. The Community Center Coordinator is also responsible for ordering equipment and supplies and maintaining the appearance and safety of assigned grounds, buildings, and other facilities. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules and policies and requires judgment and discretion in the application and interpretation of programs, game rules, and procedures. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director/Assistant Director and is evaluated based on observation, feedback from the public, personal conferences, and the attainment of individual and department performance objectives.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Physical Education, or related degree. Experience in athletic programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work requires the frequent use of machinery, facility equipment, office computer, cell phone, and other office equipment. May be required to drive or operate motorized vehicles. The employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time with occasional bending or squatting. Employee should be able to perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Employee is required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Employee must have the visual acuity to perform frequent reading, to prepare and analyze data and figures, to perform close-up work, and to distinguish color and depth. Employee must also be able to hear and talk with others, either in person or on the phone, to communicate information.
Work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment as well as noise from operating recreational vehicles and other facility equipment. This position may also require working outside in extreme temperatures, moving equipment and supplies, some exposure to hazardous chemicals, and the use of personal protective equipment when assisting other program areas.
