Job summary

Tidewater Youth Services Commission is seeking several part-time Community Based Counselors to provide non-clinical treatment services with at-risk youth and their families in Portsmouth, VA. Services include in-home and community-based counseling, with flexibility for after-school hours, evenings, and some weekend work.

Counselors will travel to client homes or community locations, receive mileage reimbursements, and complete required records of visits and progress.

Qualifications

• Non-clinical counseling with at-risk youth and families.
• Travel in own vehicle; mileage reimbursed.
• Flexible schedule including after school, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical counseling with youth and their families in homes or community settings.
• Deliver services such as Anger Management, Life Skills, individual or family counseling, parenting support, and substance abuse education.
• Prepare records of client visits, progress and case notes; respond to emergencies and crises as needed.
• Establish relationships with families, court personnel and referral agencies.
