Job Description

Rees Broome, PC, a Top 20 law firm in Virginia, is recruiting an associate with 2-4 years of general collections experience to assist our community association and HOA clients in our Community Association practice group. This position offers competitive compensation and a generous bonus plan. The firm actively supports its associates’ professional growth.

Requirements: Candidates must be licensed in Virginia.

Our ideal candidate will have 2-4 years’ experience practicing general collections work for banks or other creditors, with exceptional research and communication skills, a strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously, and excellent academic credentials.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a caseload of 250-400 active collection cases from start to finish.
  2. Collaborate with paralegals, administrative assistants, and Shareholders on cases.
  3. Review and interpret client documents; draft legal opinions.
  4. Handle court appearances and enforcement cases in multiple jurisdictions.
  5. Communicate regularly with community association clients and management agents.
  6. Manage billing via hourly and fixed fee arrangements.
  7. Attend on-site meetings at community associations for elections and Board meetings.
Qualifications:
  1. JD from an accredited law school.
  2. Admitted to practice in Virginia.
  3. 2-4 years’ experience in collections, including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act compliance and post-judgment enforcement.
  4. Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  5. Experience in legal project management and managing staff is helpful.
