Job description

Community Assistant

The Community Assistant is at the forefront of the community and responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to current residents to help maximize occupancy year over year. This role assists in planning and participating in the execution of resident community events, maintains positive resident relations, and helps with daily operations. Must communicate effectively and manage time efficiently.

Reports to: Community Manager

Direct Reports: None

Responsibilities
  • Resident Experience:
    • Understand the Housing Contract and all related addendums; assist residents and guarantors with tenancy issues.
    • Promote resident events via social media platforms.
    • Assist with email and text communications to current residents.
    • Maintain a positive community environment and encourage participation in Residence Life activities.
    • Resolve resident concerns/conflict and elevate to the appropriate manager as needed.
  • Property Operations:
    • Perform daily opening and closing checklists, including model & tour route inspection and housekeeping as needed.
    • Attend and contribute to landmark lineup and required staff meetings.
    • Respond to internet and telephone inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
    • Enter maintenance requests as needed.
    • Keep detailed activity logs in prospect and resident accounts.
    • Log resident packages and send notifications as needed.
    • Enforce community policies and procedures in accordance with the Housing Contract and report any violations to the Community Manager.
    • Adhere and comply with corporate procedures and government laws on Fair Housing.
    • Participate in all turn‑related activities: move‑in & move‑out days, unit inspections, trash‑outs, and unit make‑readies (cleaning, painting, furniture placement).
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Accounting, Information Technology, Public Relations, or a related major (preferred).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Reliable and self‑disciplined.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software; Entrata experience preferred.
  • Available to work an average of 15‑20 hours per week, including mornings, evenings, weekends (possibly outside normal operating hours), university closings (spring/fall/winter breaks, summer months), and turn periods with extended hours as necessary.
  • Must participate in the on‑call rotation schedule and perform after‑hours lockouts as needed.
