Community Assistant - Part time - (Oelwein area)
Position Summary
The Community Assistant (CA) is a part-time position and is an active member of a team providing services to individuals with disabilities who reside in the community. Full Circle Services, Inc. strives to create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere to encourage client participation in programs. The organization ensures the well-being of Consumers and promotes their development towards a more independent lifestyle.
Education
- High school diploma or GED, or enrolled in High School and over age 16
- Ability to maintain yearly training (e.g., Mandatory Reporter, HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
Experience
- No experience needed.
- Preferred experience working with persons with disabilities and/or diverse cultures.
Job Duties
Note: The listed duties are typical examples. Not all duties apply to every position, nor are all duties assigned to every Community Assistant.
- Provides direct services to Consumers, including working various hours (nights, weekends, holidays, etc.).
- Aids Consumers in their homes, programs, and community to promote safety and independence. Acts as a positive role model.
- Monitors Consumers’ well-being and assists with daily life skills and behavior management. Supports Consumers' individualized goals as per their Support Plan and may provide transportation.
- Implements Support Plans and documents HCBS 20 Outcomes each shift.
- Maintains accurate documentation and billing records, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Submits timesheets timely.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Recognizes potential emergencies, analyzes situations, and develops strategies accordingly.
- Follows work schedule and rules, reports problems promptly, and communicates effectively.
- Maintains confidentiality and positive relationships with other agencies.
- Responds to inquiries and ensures consumer rights are protected.
- Completes incident reports within 24 hours and attends scheduled trainings and meetings.
- Identifies and reports safety concerns and crisis situations, following safety procedures.
- Operates office equipment and performs related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance; ensure safe transportation requirements are met
- Owns a phone
- Understanding of confidentiality (HIPAA)
- Flexible schedule, willing to work overnights and sleep on-site if needed
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs
