West Valley City is hiring an entry-level animal ordinance enforcement officer to respond to animal-related complaints, educate the public on ordinances, and impound animals as necessary. The role blends administrative tasks with fieldwork and requires independent work in potentially hazardous situations involving animals and the public.

The position is full-time (40 hours/week) with on-call duties for holidays and weekends.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year in animal services, animal handling, code enforcement, or related field preferred.
• Education/experience may substitute one for another at division's discretion.

Mansioni

• Patrol neighborhoods to identify ordinance violations and impound animals as necessary.
• Respond to public complaints and dispatched calls regarding animal control concerns.
• Educate residents regarding animal ordinances through presentations, printed materials, and personal interactions.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to enforcement, impoundments, and interactions with the public.
• Testify in court regarding enforcement actions as needed.
• Humanely euthanize animals at Field Supervisor's direction.
• Participate in on-call rotations, including evenings and weekends.
• Operate City vehicles and equipment safely.
