Position Overview:

The Communications Technician 3 is responsible for the installation, planning, organizing, and scheduling of communications cabling and equipment. This includes completing work orders, assigning tasks, ensuring high-quality installation, and performing quality inspections. The role involves monitoring task completion, compliance, safety issues, and adherence to all applicable standards.

Proficiency in Telecommunication Systems including OSP & ISP Copper, CCTV, DAS, Fiber Optic, and Structured Cabling is required. Candidates should strive to become qualified BICSI Technicians.

Core Market Sector:

Experience in Low-Voltage specialty contracting industries, supporting projects in Healthcare, Government, Higher Education, Federal Aviation, and Mission Critical industries is essential.

Position Requirements:

  • Extensive field experience in installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling within commercial construction.
  • Experience in terminating, testing, and troubleshooting Horizontal Copper (Cat 5, Cat 6).
  • Knowledge of ISP/OSP telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, pathways, racks, devices, and grounding systems.
  • Leadership skills to supervise teams of 6-10 technicians.
  • Own tools required for the position.
  • Knowledge of fiber termination techniques, cable labeling, and testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead small to medium telecommunications projects.
  • Supervise and mentor junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Perform on-site cable pulling, termination, testing, and inspections.
  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 years of telecommunications installation experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in federal, healthcare, or mission-critical environments.
