Job summary

Marcurius Multi-Mission Solutions in Clearwater, FL is seeking a Communications Technician to join our engineering team supporting unmanned platforms. You will assist with integration, configuration, testing, and maintenance of communications systems across platforms, working with LOS/BLOS, SATCOM, and secure networks.

Qualifications

  • Identify equipment, configuration, and integration issues and support their resolution with the Lead Communications Engineer and wider engineering team
  • Support sea trials, customer demonstrations, operational evaluations, and end-user testing

Role Overview

The Communications Technician Engineer supports the Lead Communications Engineer with the hands‑on integration, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communications systems across Marcurius platforms.

This role works directly with LOS and BLOS communications, tactical radios, SATCOM, cellular connectivity, secure networks, and command-and-control systems. Working alongside communications, software, autonomy, electrical, and platform engineering teams, you will help ensure communications equipment is correctly installed, configured, tested, and ready for operational use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support integration and installation of communications systems across unmanned platforms
  • Configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain tactical radios, SATCOM terminals, cellular routers, networked devices, and secure communications equipment
  • Support LOS and BLOS communications, mesh networking, LTE/5G, SATCOM, and other communications pathways

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience with communications systems, RF systems, network integration, electronics, or related technical work
  • Practical experience installing, configuring, testing, or troubleshooting communications and networking equipment
  • Understanding of RF fundamentals, IP networking, LOS/BLOS communications, and communications system integration
  • Ability to read and work from system diagrams, wiring/interface documentation, equipment manuals, and technical procedures
  • Strong hands‑on troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Degree or technical qualification in Communications, RF, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent military/technical training and relevant hands‑on experience
  • Must possess, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Department of Defense or tactical communications systems
  • Experience with SATCOM, tactical radios, cellular routers, mesh networks, or SDR platforms
  • Experience with unmanned, autonomous, maritime, or other complex operational platforms
  • Experience with secure networking and encryption equipment
  • Experience supporting field testing, integration, or operational deployments
  • Military communications, signal, avionics, maritime electronics, or similar technical background
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, military communications qualifications, or relevant vendor certifications
Physical Requirements

This role is hands‑on and field‑oriented. The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position:

  • Ability to work onsite in engineering, integration, and testing environments
  • Ability to board vessels and work in confined technical spaces
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions during testing and sea trials
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for supplier visits, testing, demonstrations, and operational support
