Job summary

City of Tacoma seeks a Communications Systems Technician I to install, repair, and maintain TPU and City communications infrastructure including radios, networks, SCADA, security systems, CCTV, access control, and telephony. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of related experience, or two years of trade school education.

Qualifications

• HS or equivalent required with two years in installation, maintenance and repair of electronic communications equipment/infrastructure, RF or computer networking, security or automation controls.
• Or graduation from high school with two years of related trade school education.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain a variety of network and communications infrastructure and end user devices to industry standards.
• Route wire and cables through crawl spaces, work spaces and City facilities.
• Perform communications cable terminations and testing; install radios and antennas in City vehicles.
• Assist higher level technicians and learn established standards for installations in buildings, rights-of-way and private property.
