Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist I collaborates with Communications team members to develop and publish public-facing digital and print media and conduct stakeholder outreach and education. The Communications Specialist I may also be tasked to assist with other internal communications or corporate needs, including, but not limited to, organizational charts, press releases, other media campaigns, or external publications. The Communications Specialist I develops content consistent with the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Program key messages and follows requirements in the QIO Brand Guidelines, QIO Communications Manual, Company's Internal Organization for Standardization (ISO) documents, and other reference material. The Communications Specialist I ensures that Company's QIO website and other materials comply with accessibility and plain language guidelines.

Primary Duties include: developing original public-facing content and collateral, refining existing content, researching topics, identifying new publication channels, and developing new projects. When developing QIO material, refer to the QIO Program's key messages and follow the guidance outlined in the QIO Communications Handbook, Company Style Guide, QIO Brand Guidelines, accessibility guidelines, and other resources. Design and produce marketing communications for a wide variety of clients with little to no supervision. Coordinate the development of training materials, marketing efforts, and other initiatives. Ensure drafted materials are internally vetted prior to publication. Contribute to the development of the Company\'s QIO social media accounts and develop social media content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, including original graphics and posts with little to no supervision. Support changes to the QIO website. Contribute to the production of original digital media, including videos and podcasts. Develop ideas for images, graphics, and visual components; create designs by hand or using software; draft or write, edit, and publish articles, blogs, and other written communications. Conduct outreach to stakeholders, coordinate educational webinars, and facilitate partner meetings. Participate in the creative process and collaborate with internal teams to develop creative solutions. Adhere to deadlines, stay current on industry trends, and interact with external vendors. Document activities on required templates. Assist with the development and production of Annual Medical Review Services Reports and other customer deliverables. Protect patient information in compliance with HIPAA and HITECH. Attend annual security awareness training and related policies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge: Basic knowledge of mass media/communication industry practices, principles of mass communication, adult learning principles, and editorial and audio/video production processes. Ability to apply style guides creatively while upholding brand identity. Creative with a variety of design and messaging solutions. A basic understanding of health care is a plus; experience in accessibility and Section 508 is a plus. Desirable knowledge includes social media trends, HTML and website code standards, and video/graphic production processes. Strong conceptual skills and a high level of design, layout, and typography awareness.

Essential Education: Bachelor\'s degree in communication, journalism, education, or design is preferred or equivalent experience related to most of the job\'s essential functions. Portfolio preferred.

Preferred: experience in social platforms, basic graphic design, Adobe Creative Suite, podcast platforms; editorial skills and publication process knowledge; experience in telemarketing, public speaking, and meeting facilitation.
