Job summary

Lexington Health, Inc. is seeking a Communications Officer for the LCHSD Police Dept. The role involves receiving and documenting calls for service across the organization and dispatching officers, while monitoring alarms, cameras, and access control.

The position requires high school diploma, 1 year of related experience, NCIC certification within 6 months, and a valid SC driver''s license, with training in CJIS Security and awareness. Strong English reading/writing skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Successfully complete training in Criminal Justice Information Systems Security and Awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Answers emergent and non-emergent calls for service.
  • Prioritizes and dispatches appropriate personnel to calls for service.
  • Monitors cameras, access doors and alarms (emergency, infant abduction, fire, burglar, weapons detection).
  • Uses CAD and incident reporting systems to document all calls for service completely and accurately.
  • Coordinates requests to outside agencies (police, fire, EMS) as needed.
  • Ensures proper management of department warrants processes.

Job Summary

The Communications Officer receives and documents calls for service throughout the organization and dispatches the appropriate officers, as well as monitors alarms, cameras and access doors.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 1 Year of communication, law enforcement/public safety or related experience such as military service
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certified or obtain NCIC certification within 6 months of hire;

Must have and maintain a valid South Carolina’s driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle record and background screening as outlined in the Vehicle Safety policy (Subject to annual Motor Vehicle Record review and satisfactory results).
Required Training:

Successfully complete training in Criminal Justice Information Systems Security and Awareness;

Experience with Windows Operating System (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint);

Ability to read and write English fluently and follow both written and oral directions.

Essential Functions
  • Answers both emergent and non-emergent calls for service.
  • Prioritizes and dispatches appropriate personnel to calls for service.
  • Monitors critical organizational technologies: to include cameras, access control doors and alarms (emergency, infant abduction, fire, burglar, weapons detection, etc).
  • Utilizes computer aided dispatch and incident reporting systems to document all calls for service completely and accurately.
  • Processes timely and accurate entries, deletions and modifications through the National Crime Information Center.
  • Coordinates requests to appropriate outside agencies, as needed (police, fire, EMS, etc.)
  • Ensures proper management of department warrant processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel/vendor.
  • Assumes select access control duties after hours such as basic troubleshooting and printing badges.
  • Prepares written reports of investigation based on his or her actions.
  • Accesses the NCIC and South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) database for investigative purposes.
  • Ensures operation compliance with Federal, State, County, Organization, and Department standards.
  • Ensures accurate and timely dissemination of information to supervision.
  • Ensures timely resolution to requests.
  • Any other request assigned by management.
