Job summary

Single Parent Provision (SPP) is seeking a part-time Communications intern to assist the Communications Manager in marketing and communication efforts to help further our mission. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit communication, requiring self-starters and teamwork, with a statement of faith.

Starting Fall 2026 (Sept 8–Dec 18), 10-15 hours/week with occasional Saturdays; compensation is a $30-$50 weekly stipend. Onsite at our office with a possible hybrid option.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a college degree or recent graduate in Communications, Marketing, or Graphic Design.
  • Experience creating content for social media and digital communications.
  • Excellent writing and creative thinking skills.
  • Proactively seeks clarity and contributes new ideas.
  • Familiarity with video creation/editing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, creating, and maintaining communication for events.
  • Create and edit long and short-form videos for email and social media.
  • Capture, edit, and organize photos/videos during events.
  • Draft promotional communications for campaigns.
  • Create graphics for social media, emails, print materials.
  • Transfer master communication plans between platforms.

Job description

Single Parent Provision (SPP) is seeking a part-time Communications intern to assist the Communications Manager in marketing and communication efforts to help further our mission. This internship is an excellent opportunity to better understand communication in the non-profit world and gain hands-on experience through project-driven learning. Qualified candidates will be self-starters with good time management skills, able to work both independently with limited direction as well as collaboratively within a team setting, and in agreement with our statement of faith.

Reports to: Communications and Finance Manager

Start and End Dates: Fall 2026 (September 8 – December 18)

Hours: Part-Time; 10-15 hours/week; occasional Saturdays required

Compensation: $30-$50/week stipend

Location: Onsite at our office; hybrid option possible, if needed

About Single Parent Provision

SPP is a consistent presence in the lives of single parents and their families providing intentional care, practical supports, and pathways for single parents to grow in faith and community. Our mission is to glorify God by partnering with single parents to help strengthen their lives and the lives of their families. We provide a variety of programs, services, resources, and events for single parents and their families.

Responsibilities & Duties (including but not limited to):
  • Assist in planning, creating, and maintaining communication for our 15th Annual Single Moms Christmas Dinner and 10th Annual Family Gift Market including pre- and post-event projects.
  • Create and edit long and short-form videos for email and social media.
  • Capture, edit, and organize photos and videos at our 15th Annual Single Moms Christmas Dinner (12/5) and Family Gift Market (12/12). Optional: Fall Break Time programs.
  • Draft a promotional communication campaign for our Annual Spring Banquet.
  • Create graphics for social media, emails, and print materials.
  • Transfer our Master Communication Plans from one platform to another using data entry.
  • Attend team meetings and assist in conducting project-related interviews.
  • Other tasks and research as assigned.
  • Present findings, projects, and summary of internship to staff.
Qualifications and Expectations
  • Education: pursuing a college degree (sophomore and up) or recent graduate in a related field (e.g. Communications, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design)
  • Experience creating content for business/organization for various social media platforms and other digital communications
  • Excellent writing and creative thinking skills
  • Proactively engages in projects by seeking clarity, requesting new challenges, and introducing fresh ideas to improve outcomes
  • Experience with video creating and editing
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe Suite is beneficial but not required
  • Related work or volunteer experience is beneficial but not required
  • Must be in agreement with, sign, and abide by SPP’s statement of faith
