Job summary

The Major League Baseball Players Association seeks a communications intern for a six-month, full-time placement with a hybrid workout in New York City. The role supports day-to-day media and public relations activities and contributes to labour, licensing and not-for-profit initiatives across the association.

Responsibilities include drafting summaries, distributing press releases and maintaining media lists, with Spanish fluency preferred but not required.

About the Role

The Major League Baseball Players Association seeks a communications intern for a six-month, full-time placement running from the autumn through to spring 2027, offering the chance to gain experience within a prominent sports union. The intern works within the Association's communications function, contributing to its day-to-day media and public relations activity. The role supports the communications objectives of the Association's labour, licensing and not-for-profit activities. The position is hybrid and based in New York City.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Association's day-to-day media, public relations and related activities
• Monitor news and carry out general research of a biographical, organisational and topical nature
• Draft and edit issue summaries, analysis and reports
• Distribute press releases
• Maintain the communications department's media list
• Contribute to the communications objectives of the Association's labour, licensing and not-for-profit activities
• Take on other special communications projects as needed

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Recent college graduate from an accredited university with a degree in public relations, communications, sports management, economics, English or labour relations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding interpersonal skills
• Experience working with the Microsoft suite of programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Experience using the internet as a communications and research tool
• Knowledge of Major and Minor League Baseball Players

Preferred Skills

• Fluency in Spanish (preferred but not required)

Workplace

• Hybrid role based in New York City
• Must be able to come into the office 3 days per week, working the other two days remotely
• Hours are 9 am to 5 pm daily

Salary

• $20.00 Per hour for BA graduates
• $30.00 Per hour for MBA graduates
