CNA is hiring a paid Summer 2027 Business Operations Internship in Arlington, VA, to support the Strategic Initiatives / Communications team. The intern will assist with campaigns, events, content development, and website updates while gaining experience in national security communications.

The role requires in-office presence at least 3 days per week and offers exposure to internal newsletters, cross-company collaboration, and business development activities.

Qualifications

  • Must be in junior or final year of bachelor’s degree or recent graduate.
  • Experience with event planning and execution, communications or journalism, and business development is preferred but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication, critical thinking and organizational skills, and professionalism are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to internal stakeholders in alignment with campaigns.
  • Assist with planning and executing in-person and hybrid events, including invitations, RSVP tracking, and read-ahead materials.
  • Pull together marketing materials and slide decks for meetings with external stakeholders and cross-company opportunities.
  • Provide logistical support such as notetaking, tracker management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Write articles for the CNA internal newsletter.
  • Collaborate with researchers and staff to keep the CNA.org website up to date.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE

CNA Corporation is hiring for an intern in the Strategic Initiatives / Communications team for Summer 2027. Are you passionate about making an impact on national security through meaningful work? We’re looking for talented individuals to join our paid Business Operations Internship Program.

This internship is located in Arlington, VA, near Washington, DC, and is part of Strategic Initiatives (SIN). SIN is a team dedicated to establishing CNA as an intellectual influencer across the national and homeland security landscape. CNA's Office of Communications within SIN manages CNA's internal and external communications efforts. The team is seeking an enthusiastic summer Intern to assist with supporting the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Senior Advisor for Strategic Development, and Communications Manager in alignment with select campaigns, event planning and execution, business development efforts, supporting the CNA.org website, writing, editing, and organizing communications content.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND/OR DUTIES
  • 1. Provide support to internal stakeholders in alignment with select campaigns.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • 1. Education: Must be in junior or final year of bachelor’s degree or recently graduated from with bachelor’s degree.
  • 2. Experience: Experience with event planning and execution, communications or journalism, and business development is preferred, but not required.
  • 3. Skills: Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong oral and written communication skills, critical thinking and organizational skills, and a high degree of professionalism are required.
  • 4. Remote/Hybrid Work Eligibility: The intern will be required to be in the office at least 3 days a week, with additional days in the office as needed to support in-person events.
