J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Virginia is seeking a part-time Communications Instructor to provide high-quality instruction, develop course content, and support student success across in-person and online formats.

The successful candidate will maintain compliant syllabi, assess outcomes, offer timely feedback, and participate in required meetings to support institutional goals and inclusive learning environments.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in the teaching field or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field. Qualifying academic degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and inclusive teaching practices
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering engaging course content that supports student learning and success.
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant course syllabi and assessing student learning outcomes.
  • Providing timely feedback and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Utilizing effective instructional methods and technology, staying current in teaching practices, and communicating promptly with students.

Education

Job Description: Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Communications Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that supports student learning and success. Responsibilities include developing and delivering engaging course content, maintaining accurate and compliant course syllabi, assessing student learning outcomes, providing timely feedback, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Adjunct faculty are expected to utilize effective instructional methods and technology, remain current in their academic discipline and teaching practices, communicate promptly with students, and support institutional goals through participation in required meetings and other assigned responsibilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student achievement, instructional excellence, and continuous improvement.


Minimum Qualifications:
