Communications Graphic and Web Designer
Based in Tukwila, WA

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) IFPTE Local 2001 is a professional aerospace union representing about 19,000 engineers, technical workers, pilots and other aerospace professionals in several states.

We are seeking a talented and creative Graphic and Web Designer to join our communications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating visually appealing and user-friendly designs for both print and digital platforms. One of our more pressing priorities is an overhaul of our current website.

The successful candidate will become part of a four-person communications team responsible for member communications and external audiences nationwide.

This position is primarily on-site at SPEEA headquarters in Tukwila, Washington. The successful candidate will be union-represented.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and create visually appealing graphics/layouts for print/digital monthly magazine/biweekly newsletter, bulletin board notices, brochures, flyers and advertisements.
  • Develop and maintain a mobile-friendly SPEEA website for external and internal audiences.
  • Produce election packets, bargaining unit contracts and other union requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into visually appealing designs.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of our target audience and design graphics and websites that resonate with them.
  • Maintain and enhance our brand identity by ensuring consistency in design across all platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in graphic and web design and incorporate them into our designs.

Requirements

  • Proficient in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and web design tools, such as WordPress and Squarespace.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of graphic and web design projects.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory and layout.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a strong eye for aesthetics.
  • Knowledge of current design trends and best practices in graphic and web design.
  • Five to 10 years’ experience in graphic design strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, web design or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with labor unions or other non-profits preferred.

Location and Schedule:

  • Tukwila, Washington
  • Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Compensation: This position offers a competitive salary, starting at $75,000 (depending on experience) along with a generous benefits package and flexible work environment.
